While many educational institutions strive solely for academic excellence, Global Indonesia School (GIS2) operates under a deeper philosophy: true leadership is fundamentally anchored in character. Education extends far beyond the mere accumulation of facts—it is the intentional cultivation of a noble, empathetic heart designed to illuminate the world.
At GIS2, character education is neither an afterthought nor a passing assembly ritual. It stands as the cornerstone of our institutional identity, seamlessly woven into the fabric of daily campus life through meticulously curated monthly themes aimed at molding principled young leaders. Central to this vision is the school’s flagship virtue-building initiative: The Student of the Month program. Formulated to nurture empathetic, responsible, and high-integrity individuals, this year-long endeavor guides students through twelve foundational values.
The Transformative Magic of Respect To inaugurate its academic journey, the school dedicated its focus to a pivotal core value: RESPECT. To make this abstract virtue accessible and deeply resonant for early learners, the school counseling team translated respect into an empowering, child-friendly banner: "My Kind Words, My Magic Power."
Through this framework, students discovered the profound agency embedded in their everyday language—how intentional speech can elevate peers, reconcile differences, and forge a cohesive, compassionate community. The month’s pedagogical focused on mastering three indispensable "magic phrases":
- "Thank You": Cultivating authentic gratitude and appreciation.
- "I'm Sorry": Demonstrating humility, self-awareness, and accountability.
- "Please": Requesting assistance with grace, courtesy, and poise.
Throughout the month of July, the halls of GIS2 resonated with these essential expressions, successfully translating moral concepts into instinctive daily habits.
Ambassadors of Character
The culmination of this monthly focus was the rigorous selection of the Student of the Month. Under the strategic direction of the school counseling team, educators conducted continuous, qualitative observations across all grade levels to identify learners who authentically embodied the spirit of respect and championed courteous discourse.
On Friday, 14 August 2026, GIS2 proudly celebrated eight exemplary young ambassadors—representing each class level from Early Childhood through Primary Education:
